Five good things #1

Remembering June

Beth Gibbons

I was over the moon when a good friend asked me if I would like to join her for a gig in Manchester. It was Beth Gibbons's return! I had to say yes, of course! We had a lovely time witnessing a musician who still can control her vocal cords beautifully, even after thirty years. I heard her solo stuff firsthand at the gig, which was remarkably incredible. Her band was fantastic!

Here is my favourite song from Portishead , Roads.

Here another favourite from Beth Gibbons’s new album,Lives Outgrown. Floating On Moment.

Another place

We booked this place super far in advance to celebrate H's belated birthday. It was such a treat, especially with the amazing weather when we were there. We were surrounded by hills facing Lake Ullswater; the food was great, and on top of that, there was a kid's area where we could leave A for a few hours while we went for a paddleboard! It is definitely a retreat for us. This hotel is so family-friendly. We will be back in Autumn.

Forest School

Atlas has been attending forest school since she was 5 months old. It was the highlight of the day for me during my early postpartum months. Motherhood was a little lonely for me at first, especially having to navigate most things on my own. So, being surrounded by familiar faces in the woods is definitely a mood lifter. Now Atlas is almost two years old, and I can say that she loves her forest school as much as I do, rain or shine.

P/S: The last photo is the first time Atlas went to this Forest School in February 2023.

ANOHNI and the Johnsons

My good friends have invited me to see ANOHNI at Aviva Studios. I hadn't heard any of her stuff, so my friend put on her albums for me to listen to, and I was instantly drawn to them. Her voice was incredible! It is like a cross between Michael Kuninuwa and James Blake. I was also in love with the narrative of her music. Full of emotion - the truth, anger and empathy. ANOHNI shared some stories in between her music, and it 'mindblown' me every time she did. I wasn't aware of the injustice that trans women had to go through.

Here’s my favourite from I am bird’s album. You are my sisters.

Another favourite from her new album, My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross - It Must Change.

First Jog as family

We replaced our Bugaboo Fox with Chariot Sport 2 so we could do sports together as a family. We did a test run together from our doorstep to windermere ferry—high Wray and back the same way to our doorstep, a total of 22 km. It was super enjoyable. We should have done it sooner!

Thank you for staying around.
