Five good things #3
remembering September
Oh, hello there. I know this is a few months late, but life gets busy when you have a toddler. Anyway, without further ado…
Hiking with Atlas with our Poco Plus Carrier. September was the month of getting fit for an adventure in October, so hiking with Atlas was a training done for me. Besides, the weather was on our side; it was typical UK weather, as it gets good when the school term starts. The carrier was so comfortable that Atlas slept most of the time when I was on ascent and woke up during the more accessible part of the day. This is why I can't join any community hike anymore, as my keen toddler likes to take her time to ramble. She also often lays down, just for the fun of it.
Meet Cath and Jo at Yorkshire Dales and stay in Dan & Jo's farmhouse. I got to drive 2 hours plus with my toddler in tow. She behaved so well with me in the car. Well, most of the journey there but not so much home. That is always the case. Atlas was a gem when with my friends + Glen the dog. :) We did a hike and rambled around Jo's village. We visited the barnhouse to see the owls and Jo's artwork. It was wholesome.
Climbing Indoors. After two years, I, an introvert, finally can open up to people I have often met on walks, in toddler groups, or online. So, I made friends with a new mother who is a climber and an adventurer. We went bouldering together, which was my first climbing indoors for the first time after so long.
Home-cooked food. I love cooking and knowing my family eats nutritious food daily. I have been cooking for my family almost every day in September, and I made butternut squash soup towards the end of the month—it has been a long while since I made this soup with homemade broth. Boobtofood's recipe is the best, and Atlas demolished them. (I substitute the pumpkin for butternut squash).
We also spent a weekend at our good friend's house, Li Rui, and of course, if you read my previous blog, Li Rui always pampers my family. This time, all of them got an opportunity to be pampered by her mother's home-cooked food. It was such an experience. Atlas couldn't stop saying 'delicious' to every food she tried. :)
Last but not least, it was Atlas's second Birthday. The good thing about it was that we spent it with our good friends, who have two kids. One of them is only a few weeks apart from Atlas, so it was quite a joy to see all of them play together. Our friend invited us over to stay at theirs, and of course, they all cared for us well, even Atlas's presents (we forgot them) and cake. Friendship is effort, even if you live so far away. If you have found a good one, never let them go. heh.
Love,
Azzy
